Depending on the time, people hold differing levels of interest towards their past — nonetheless, it is very common that at the time of grand anniversaries, people look back on their history and (re)organize their memory. Within a culture, some events get forgotten, while others get highlighted, their meanings re-told via the media of memorials, ceremonies, and of course artistic texts. For example, the screening of The Little Comrade was given momentum by the film contest organized in recognition of the one hundredth anniversary of the Republic of Estonia, where it ended up being one of the six winning films, out of a total of 165 candidates.
